Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets across the United States on Saturday, marking the largest wave of demonstrations since President Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The protests, which spanned Washington, New York, Houston, Florida, Colorado, and Los Angeles, drew attention to the widespread discontent with the Republican president’s policies.
Crowds voiced their anger over issues ranging from government staffing cuts and trade tariffs to erosion of civil liberties and reproductive rights. Many protesters held placards and chanted slogans denouncing what they called the administration’s attack on democratic values and minority rights. Protesters marched through the heart of Manhattan, waving banners and flags in defiance.
Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., thousands gathered on the National Mall, with many having traveled from different parts of the country. Diane Kolifrath, 64, a bike tour guide from New Hampshire, said: “This outrageous administration is gutting our government and causing devastation at home and abroad.”
Symbolism played a major role in the protests. In Los Angeles, a woman dressed as a character from The Handmaid’s Tale held a flag that read, “Get out of my uterus,” a clear protest against Trump’s anti-abortion stance. Protesters in Denver carried signs like “No king for USA,” pointing to concerns over autocratic leadership styles.
The dissent extended beyond US borders, with smaller but significant demonstrations held in several European cities, where protesters criticized Trump’s foreign policy and trade decisions. The message was clear: the opposition to Trump’s return is loud, organized, and growing — both at home and abroad.
